We provide information and intelligence about local communities and where they live for use in the design, delivery and evaluation of local services.
The nkm population database can be easily linked to service usage data such as hospital admissions or social care. This uniquely enables the assignment of demographic, socio-economic and health variables to individuals to enable statistical analysis of who is using a service, how they use it, who is not using a service and how the service can be improved to meet gaps and needs.
Our evaluation of Brent care co-ordination service revealed that for each person supported, it saved between 14 and 29 hospital bed days a year and between three and eight A&E attendances. If replicated nationally, it could save as much as 3% of the NHS budget.
